Mrs. Joe (Bernice) Kenny, a former resident of Brownstown, will turn 100 on Saturday, October 9. She is a daughter of the late Thornton and Ethel Perry Heller. Bernice’s nieces and nephews are planning a celebration for her birthday from 2:30 until 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 9, at Parkside Court, 3360 Central Avenue, in Columbus.

Bernice graduated from Brownstown High School in 1928, and Franklin College in 1932. She then taught at Brownstown High School until she married Joseph Kenny in June of 1935.
Kenny began her banking career with the First National Bank in 1954, and held the position of Cashier as well as being on the Board of Directors at the time the two banks consolidated (First National Bank and Brownstown Loan & Trust Co.) in 1965. She retired from active employment with The Peoples Bank in December 1965. She is currently Director Emeritus.
The bank is encouraging old friends or customers to send cards to Bernie — simply bring them to any of the four locations of The Peoples Bank, and we will forward them to Bernice upon her birthday.
We salute 100 years for Bernice Kenny this month.
